Milt Camp
In addition to working at Sonora Regional Medical Center, Milt Camp is also a pilot who spends his free time flying medical personnel and supplies to Mexican and Central American villages. In 1974, Milt flew a doctor to Mexico to provide medical assistance at a small clinic and with that first trip, Los Medicos Voladores or The Flying Doctors, was founded. “The people really got to me and I felt I had to do something for them,” Milt says when asked why he started the program.
Los Medicos Voladores has since expanded to an established non-profit organization with five chapters and 550 members. Many physicians and dentists from the Foothills have volunteered and the Medical Center recently donated an ultrasound machine. Milt truly demonstrates a commitment to caring, both here in Sonora and in communities thousands of miles away.
