Angels Camp Prompt Care Now Open
Sonora Regional Medical Center opened Angels Camp Prompt Care last weekend, giving residents of Calaveras County easier access to care for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. Nine patients were seen at the Prompt Care during the opening day on Sunday.
“We want to provide easy access for people who need to get minor things taken care of,” says Pauline Campbell, RN, MSN, vice president of off-site services. The Medical Center already has an excellent reputation for providing health care services in Calaveras County. The new Angels Camp Prompt Care will now make those services even more accessible.
The new Prompt Care is located at 23 N. Main St. (at the intersection of Highways 4 and 49) in the Jumping Frog Plaza. Similar to the Medical Center’s two Prompt Care clinics in Sonora, the clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. No appointment is necessary. “It is open during hours when your doctor’s office may not be open,” Campbell says.
The Angels Camp Prompt Care is staffed by 10 full-time health care professionals, providing urgent care for people with injuries or illnesses that do not require a visit to the hospital emergency department. The clinic also offers walk-in x-ray and lab services with a physician order. Types of ailments treated at the center include coughs, colds, minor cuts that may require stitches, sprains, strains and fractures.
Campbell is quick to point out that the new Prompt Care is not a substitute for the hospital emergency department. “If someone comes in with a serious medical problem like chest pain, we will call 911 and send them to the emergency room,” she says.
