Sonora Regional Medical Center welcomes Mary Gauthier, MD, who has joined Everardo Lopez, MD, at Angels Camp Family Medical Center. Dr. Gauthier is board certified in Family Medicine and is accepting new patients, providing general medical care for the entire family with an emphasis on women’s healthcare.
Dr. Gauthier received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Gauthier completed a one-year, transitional internship in General Surgery at Medical University of South Carolina. She then served two years as resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology at York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. She then completed three years in the Chestnut Hill Family Practice Residency Program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Through her training and experience, Dr. Gauthier chose to focus on primary care as it allowed her the most interaction with her patients. Dr. Gauthier enjoys taking time to educate her patients, helping them optimize their own health. She helps her patients utilize nutrition, exercise and other lifestyle modifications to avoid preventable diseases.
Prior to entering medical school, Dr. Gauthier earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Communications from Sacramento State University and later a degree in Biology, which she put to good use as medical illustrator. That is when she discovered her passion for medicine.
Dr. Gauthier is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys boating and visits to Yosemite. She also enjoys spending time with her family. Her son is a sergeant in the Army Infantry and has served in Iraq. He now lives in Santa Rosa with his wife and two children.
