Support Groups and Services

Coping with emotional needs is a very important component of cancer treatment. Sonora Regional Medical Center has a dedicated social worker who can address and provide emotional support to patients and family members undergoing cancer treatment. In addition to treatment-based social workers, support groups are available for current and former cancer patients.
 

All Cancers Support Group
Our Cancer Support Group meets every Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Cancer Center Conference Room #903. This support group is free for cancer patients and caregivers who are coping with the challenges of cancer treatment and diagnosis.

Sonora Prostate Support Group
The Support Group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Cancer Center Conference Room #903. Call Paul Gjerde at 209.532.3318 for more information.

Look Good, Feel Better
Look Good, Feel Better classes are for women involved in active cancer treatment. This free class is held on the 2nd Monday of each month from 1-3 p.m. in the Cancer Center Conference Room #903. Contact the American Cancer Society at 209.984.4511 for more information.

Express yourself through art. No previous art experience needed. Art materials provided for this 10-week session.
 

Writing Through Cancer
Write about your personal journey and share it with others. Experience emotional and health benefits during this 10-week program.
 

Touch Therapy
Touch therapy is provided in the form of hand, foot, back and neck/extremities massage. Touch therapy is effective in reducing tension, improving relaxation, improving circulation and helping with breathing.
